Agnes Scott College, more commonly known as simply Agnes Scott, is a private undergraduate college in the downtown area of Decatur, which is a city in the US state of Georgia, that serves as the county seat of DeKalb County, with a population estimated at a number of more than 18 000 inhabitants, during the 2000 census.
Agnes Scott College was founded in 1889, by Presbyterian minister Frank H. Gaines, first starting as Decatur Female Seminary, the name of Agnes College being adopted to honor the mother of the college's primary benefactor, Col. George Washington Scott. It currently has an enrollment of 914 students and offers 30 majors and 25 minors, the students who graduate from Agnes Scott, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Agnes Scott's sports teams are known as the Scotties and they compete in NCAA Division III. Their distinctive colors are purple and white.
